What Can You do With a Spare Basement?

What’s your favorite room in your home? Perhaps you haven’t thought about this before. However, most people, when they think about it, can name a room in their home where they are the happiest and most comfortable.

Would you be surprised if someone said their basement was their favorite room? It certainly may not be the most common answer you get. Why would it? A lot of basements are unfinished, unsightly, and cold.

However, there’s a way to change this. Finishing your basement has some really great benefits. Not only does it add value to your home, it also gives you another great place to spend time.

There are a lot of great remodeling projects that you can complete in your basement to make it one of the most popular rooms in your home. Below are a few ideas just to get you started.

Man Cave

Man Cave sign says that what happens in the mancave stays there.

A man cave may be just what your home needs to kick it up a notch, though one person in the house may be arguing for it more than the others. A neat addition to a man cave is a micro-fridge and microwave. When the big game is on, you won’t even need to go upstairs to refuel!

Entertainment Center

If you are looking to have company over on a regular basis, consider converting the basement into an entertainment center. A sectional couch goes a long way in seating a large group of guests and can really shape the room.

Home Office

If you work from home, converting the basement into a home office is a productive idea. The basement will likely be quieter than a room upstairs, and there is plenty of room for décor and office furnishing. It may not be an entertaining room, but you’ll be spending a lot of time there.

Playroom

Do you have young kids? Then a playroom may just be the avenue to take when fixing up your basement. One of the important additions to convert an unfinished basement into a playroom would be carpeting. It will help keep the room warm and protect from skinned knees.

This list is just a few ideas to get you started. With an unfinished basement, the sky is the limit!
